Strengthening Your MTSS Framework: Session 3 of 3

Already have your MTSS Framework established but are ready to grow and develop you MTSS Manual?

This workshop series is for you and your core team! Your IU8 MTSS Consultants will guide you to reflect upon your current MTSS practices and implementation. You will create your MTSS Manual during work time with the support of your consultants. Collaboration opportunities will also be included.

Act 48 hours will be reported at the end of the series.

Required Training for ALL LEAs Providing Standards-Aligned Instruction to Students with Comprehensive Support Needs. The training is designed to build statewide capacity regarding the provision of standards aligned instruction and assessment using Essential Elements (EEs) for students with complex learning needs. Participants will see how EEs have already been modified for instructional use and identify existing resources to support implementation in lesson and unit planning (i.e., unpacking DLM essential elements, professional development modules, instructional planner, mini-maps, and more). A required asynchronous introductory training will be provided to all registrants prior to your session date.

This hands-on session will center around her widely acclaimed book, "Just Give Him the Whale: 20 Ways to Use Fascinations, Areas of Expertise, and Strengths to Support Students with Autism." Event Highlights: During this engaging in-person workshop, Dr. Paula Kluth will dive into the concept of strengths-based teaching for students with autism. Participants will explore 20 effective strategies that leverage students' fascinations, interests, and areas of expertise to promote learning, engagement, and socialization. Through inspiring stories and real-life examples, Dr. Kluth will illustrate how to tap into a child's passions to enhance their educational experience and unlock their full potential. Mandated Reporting: Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse

Training is approved for Act 48 (Educators) and Act 31 (State Licensure CEU's)

Training will provide information related to the requirements of mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect as defined by the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law.  For educators, this is one component of Act 126 requirements.

Training Objectives:


  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of child abuse / neglect

  • Review the elements of child abuse including categories of abuse and associated indicators

  • Learn how to properly report cases of suspected child abuse / neglect

  • Become familiar with responsibilities and protections under the law

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Initial Training

This initial 10-hour training is for individuals who have not been certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or have allowed their certification to lapse beyond the expiration date shown on a previously-issued ®Blue Card from an NCI training. This program emphasizes early intervention techniques for preventing and/or managing disruptive behavior. Personal safety techniques, restraint and transport techniques are also included.

Day 1: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm        Day 2: 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
