Dash and Dot, by Wonder Workshop, are exciting, hands-on learning tools for students in grades K-8. Targeted at teaching creative problem-solving and computational thinking, Dash and Dot help students learn fundamental processes relevant for all 21st century skills. In this workshop, learn how your students can use Dash and Dot to learn programming and coding skills, explore math concepts and develop design thinking skills by building extensions onto the robot using LEGO® Bricks. You will also learn about the Wonder League Robotics Competition and how your students can participate in future events.
This workshop is designed for first-time users of Dash and Dot.

Please join this new community from IU8 for online discussions, information sharing and resources that build key knowledge and confidence in the area of gifted education. Through a hybrid model using Schoology and Zoom, we will talk about and address many of the important issues for gifted educators.
This training will be 3 synchronous Zoom sessions on 12/16, 1/6, and 1/26 each session will be from 8:30-10:30 AM.

What is communication and why is it important?
Do you have students who cannot use symboliclanguage (speech, signs, or symbols) to communicate for a variety of purposes,across contexts and partners?
Do you have students who struggle with academicinstruction because they lack sufficient communication skills?
If you answer yes to the above questions,Project Core holds the potential for your students. There are no prerequisitesfor getting started.
With this PLC, we will take in the knowledge fromgroup-selected Project Core learning modules in order to better supportstudents with complex communication needs in the classroom, but moreimportantly, in their everyday environments.
Targeted audience includes regular education teachers,both preschool and school-age, SLPs, paraprofessionals, parents, and YOU!
Timeline
This communication supports PLC will provide up to 14 hoursof guided professional learning. All sessions will be virtual, around 30-60minutes.

This module emphasizes the importance of word meanings for reading comprehension and reviews many research-based approaches to vocabulary instruction. Beginning with an overview of the vocabulary gap that characterizes many poor readers, the roles of home language, reading aloud, verbal modeling in the classroom, and independent reading in vocabulary development are explored.Many methods for teaching breadth and depth of word knowledge are introduced and practiced.

The first session in the series will focus on SEL as it relates to one's self, by exploring the competencies of Self-Awareness and Self-Regulation. In the second session, SEL as it relates to others will be explored through the competencies of Social Awareness and Relationship Skills. The final session will explore the last competency, Responsible Decision-Making, and provide ideas on how to continue to incorporate SEL within the classroom beyond this series.
