Building and strengthening relationships and community is a critical component of school culture. Restorative practices is an essential process for creating a positive learning environment, building social capital, and resolving relational issues.
During this introductory experience, you will learn the fundamental theory and practices for engaging with students, staff, and parents in your school setting.

Topics include the importance of being explicit about practice, how to set high expectations while being supportive, and ways to build community in your setting. We will discuss giving direct feedback and asking questions that foster accountability, as well as utilizing effective methods to resolve common conflicts.

You will learn to apply the restorative practices continuum, understanding which restorative processes are best for achieving certain goals or responding to particular situations. We will focus specifically on facilitating circles, an essential process for creating a positive learning environment and school culture. Circles can be used both proactively and responsively to build social capital, sustain relationships, address social problems, and respond when harm occurs. Participants will spend time planning circles to use in their schools immediately.

Required Training for ALL LEAs Providing Standards-Aligned Instruction to Students with Comprehensive Support Needs. The training is designed to build statewide capacity regarding the provision of standards aligned instruction and assessment using Essential Elements (EEs) for students with complex learning needs. Participants will see how EEs have already been modified for instructional use and identify existing resources to support implementation in lesson and unit planning (i.e., unpacking DLM essential elements, professional development modules, instructional planner, mini-maps, and more). A required asynchronous introductory training will be provided to all registrants prior to your session date.

Teachers and Administrators from enrolled schools who have NOT attended a Math Nation+ Training previously. This session will be a deep dive into all of the resources available through Math Nation. Participants will investigate the various tools and create a plan for implementing Math Nation+ tools with their classes and students. Participants should make sure they can log into Math Nation+ prior to the day of training. **In person participants will need to bring their laptop to the training facility.

Teachers from schools that have NOT yet enrolled in Math Nation+. This session will provide an overview of the resources that are available through Math Nation+ and the benefits of these resources for students, back by research outcomes. Teachers will have the opportunity to explore Math Nation+ and learn how to make these resources available in their schools.

Teachers and Administrators from enrolled schools who HAVE previously attended a Math Nation+ Training. This session will explain the changes made for the brand new 4.0 version and will take a closer look at the lesson components, including modeling a complete lesson, and the Math In Action lessons. Participants should make sure they can log into Math Nation prior to the day of training. ** In person participants will need to bring their laptop to the training facility.

Administrators from schools that have not yet enrolled in Math Nation+. This session will provide an overview of the resources that are available through Math Nation+ and the benefits of these resources to students, with research-backed outcomes. Administrators will have the opportunity to explore Math Nation+ and learn the necessary steps to bring these resources to their schools.
