The Appalachia Intermediate Unit 08 is now accepting applications for the summer ATOMS Recharged program, (formerly known as ATOMS). We’ve added the “Recharged” to our name to emphasize our changing curriculum. We are excited to add courses that incorporate the use of equipment funded by the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation & UPMC. These high-tech tools encourage critical thinking and problem solving strategies that give students a hands-on, advanced level, intensive STEM experience throughout the summer.
Costs are as follows:
3-Day MINI program - $115
5-Day BASIC program - $155
(Costs can be subsidized by financial aid if appropriate paperwork is provided by the family.)
(Student scholarships amounts are based on the amount of area businiess donations received)If the parent is requesting financial aid, the parent will need to provide a copy of thestudent's current lunch program form indicating his/her eligibility for free/reduced lunches.This form must be scanned and emailed to theor postal mailed to:ATOMS Financial Aid Requestsc/o Student Programs4500 Sixth AveAltoona, PA 16602.
The online application form (see link below) should be completed by the parent/guardian.
Following this, we will communicate with your child's school district for eligibility input. School officials will be contacted and strongly encouraged to write specific comments regarding the student's eligibility for this program. In many cases, final determination of acceptance into the program is based on the school recommendation. Comments are always confidential.
Selection for this program is competitive and your child’s admission is not guaranteed.

REFUND CANCELLATION POLICY:
FULL Refund - (100%) will be issued if this event is cancelled by the IU due to low enrollment.
FULL Refund - (100% minus $10 service charge) will be issued if the participant cancels
at least 14 days prior to the start of the event.
No Refund - No refund will be issued for cancellations by the participant with
LESS than 14 days notice of the start of the event or if the participant simply does not attend.
