In Week 1, IU 8 students solved an incredible 222,606 math problems, with standout performances from schools across the region. By the May 5 statewide update, Appalachia IU 8 had reached 6th place among participating Pennsylvania Intermediate Units — an impressive achievement for a moderately sized IU competing alongside larger regions across the state.
👏 Congratulations to the students, teachers, school leaders, and families helping build math confidence one problem at a time.
Special thanks to Senator Pat Stefano, Honorary Chair, and Matt Karabinos at Appalachia IU 8 for their leadership and support.
