ORIENTATION AND MOBILITY SPECIALIST: 

Full-Time Position. Four-County Area. ACVREP Certificate is required.

PART-TIME AND/OR SUBSTITUTE TEACHER AIDES:

IMMEDIATE OPENINGS: Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 is seeking applicants for part-time and/or substitute teacher aides in Bedford, Blair, Cambria, and Somerset Counties for immediate openings. Copy of high school diploma required.

SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER:

Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 is accepting applications for part-time and substitute sign language interpreter positions. These positions will provide services as an educational interpreter. An educational interpreter is defined as an individual who interprets educational content, and facilitates communication between students who are identified as deaf or hard of hearing (on their IEP) and others in order to access the general education curriculum, including all aspects of the students’ educational program.
Graduation from an interpreter training program, although not a requirement for EIPA, is preferred. The ability to interpret at a normal conversational rate in American Sign Language (ASL) or an English-based signing system (transliteration). Proficiency (a score of 3.5 in PA) as evaluated by the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA). Tactile sign language for the deaf blind is preferred. Documentation of EIPA proficiency required.
