Services available through the Visually Impaired Support Program include the following:
    • In-home intervention for infants and preschoolers and their families
    • Parent training and support
    • Individualized instruction in the use of Braille, adapted materials and assistive devices
    • Consultation with school personnel about visual impairment, assistive technology, and environmental/curricular adaptations
    • Assistance to school nurses with vision screening of preschoolers and children with multiple disabilities
    • Functional Vision Assessments, Learning Media Assessments, and Assistive Technology Evaluations for students identified as visually impaired
    • Orientation and Mobility evaluation and instruction by certified instructors for students who are blind
    • School-to-adult life transition services
    • Instruction and support in the expanded core curriculum including independent living skills, recreation and leisure skills, career education, self-determination and compensatory or functional academic skills including communication modes

    To refer a student with a visual impairment for Visually Impaired Support services:

    • Complete a Vision Impaired Support Referral Form
    • Attach documentation of visual impairment from an optometrist and/or ophthalmologist (eye specialist)
