Pennsylvania Governor's School of Excellence

last modified 2006-10-03 14:51

The Pennsylvania Governor’s Schools of Excellence are eight residential summer programs taking place on college campuses.  Each offers a five week full scholarship learning adventure for talented high school students in grades ten or eleven.  Admission to the programs is highly competitive and selection is based on the students’ academic or artistic talent.  Applications for each of the schools are available from the guidance counselor at each high school.  Students who have attended one of the PGSE are eligible to apply for over $500,000 in college scholarship money as a result of their participation. Each intermediate unit within the state coordinates the dissemination of information to the schools.  If you attend a school within the Appalachia IU 8 area contact Joan Conway at 814-940-0223 or jconway@iu08.org.  For more information about each of the individual schools or to obtain an application visit the PGSE website at: www.pgse.org.
