The aim of the Health and Physical Education curriculum is to help students to examine their lifestyles, select goals, and make plans to achieve and maintain optimum health and fitness. The curriculum includes both classroom instruction and physical education activities. Classroom instruction helps to provide students with the cognitive and affective knowledge necessary for them to examine and improve their health and wellness habits. The physical education activity portion of the curriculum exposes students to a variety of lifetime and team activities that emphasize sportsmanship, cooperation, release of stress, and the enjoyment of physical exercise.
