Drug & Alcohol
Educational Programs & Services > Cresson Secure Treatment Unit

Drug and Alcohol Education is taught weekly in the school setting by a Justice Resource Institute clinician in conjunction with the education staff. This class is primarily educative in nature and is not a therapy course. Although long on experience, our students are most often ill informed on drug abuse issues. Short-term goals for individuals in this program are most often related to attainment of a working knowledge of the physiological and psychological dynamics of drug and alcohol involvement. For some, this may constitute the extent of their commitment to CSTU. More prolonged exposure to the educational format hopefully will yield results in terms of improved attitudes, pro-social values, and long range commitment to a life of sobriety. This course meets one time per week.
