Discovery Class is designed to provide the student with skills needed to find and keep a job. Two components comprise the make up of student activities, the Independent Project and Group Activities.

In the Independent Project component the student works through a series of practical modules devoted to study skills, resume writing, job search techniques, interviewing, applications, and cover letters. The students also explore relationship topics such as getting along with the boss and coworkers. Bonus modules are available for those students that complete the core curriculum.

Students work at their own pace on the activities in the various modules. Throughout each module the teacher periodically checks the student's work. The mastery learning approach is implemented so a student must achieve an 80% on each section of work before moving on to the next section.

Group Activities make up the second component of the course. These are periodically scheduled and often focus on the relationship, social, and coping skills needed to be successful in the work environment as well as in society. Seasonally oriented cultural activities are also assigned.
