The Academic, Recreational, and Social Skills or "Activity Classes" are designed to provide learning opportunities for students in a number of areas related to non-traditional education. Students learn such skills as CPR, specific skills development for GED tests, structured game and recreation skills, recreational reading, and low-tech woodworking with basic hand tools. All of these activities are designed to foster independent, goal-oriented skills that will have specific application when the students return to the community.
Automotive Technology: This new course focuses on many different aspects of automotive technology. By utilizing the Automotive Technology Module, students discover how the car is made up from a large number of systems, all of which are essential to its operation. The electrical, steering, and entertainment systems are looked at in detail. Also, basic science skills are addressed in the study of electricity and electric currents.

Computer Games (Installation and Application): Students learn to load and operate computer games. They then are tested by the teacher and must demonstrate ability to load and play selected computer games while being critiqued by the teacher.

Classroom Jeopardy: Classroom lessons are reinforced and new material is introduced to students utilizing the interactive Classroom Jeopardy game. An exciting tournament atmosphere is created over the span of the activity class to further student interest.

First Aid/CPR/AED: Students are instructed and given opportunity to become certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid through the American Red Cross.

Keyboarding: Students practice keyboarding skills using the Compass keyboarding program.

Sustained Silent Reading and Writing: Students read selected books and make journal entries to reinforce both reading and writing skills.

Word Games: Students reinforce their understanding of words by participation in a "Scattegories" competition.
